What Is Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy?

EMTT is a non-invasive therapy that uses high-energy magnetic pulses to encourage cellular activity within muscles, joints, tendons, and other tissues. In simpler terms, we use a specialized device to send carefully controlled magnetic fields into the area that hurts.

These pulses may help support the body’s natural repair processes. For example, EMTT can promote collagen production as well as encourage the production of tenocytes (tendon cells). In addition, EMTT has the potential to calm inflammation and reduce discomfort without incisions, anesthesia, or downtime.

Because EMTT can reach deeper tissues while remaining gentle at the surface, it may be a good option for patients who want a conservative approach before they consider more invasive treatment.

What to Expect During Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy

During your EMTT appointment, we will help you sit or lie in a comfortable position while we place the treatment applicator over the affected area. You probably will not need to change clothes, and the device does not have to press hard against your skin. In fact, it does not even need to touch you at all.

 Most visits are brief, typically lasting just 5 – 20 minutes, and many patients describe the sensation as mild tapping, warmth, or pulsing. In many cases, we suggest that EMTT be paired with shockwave therapy during the same appointment.

Afterward, you should be able to return to your normal day right away. We will recommend the best number of sessions based on your symptoms, your goals, and how your body responds. Many patients notice a difference within a few days, but it can take several weeks of periodic sessions to optimize the results.
